Car
giant Nissan are using the Easypack
system for packaging a range of spare parts including fragile
items such as headlamps, air-conditioning, radiators and window
glass for distribution to dealers throughout Europe. The Easypack
system was introduced after a cost cutting and productivity drive
for their transit packaging requirements.
Lightweight
cushions of packaging material are produced on demand, to any
selected length, from rolls of paper. One of the benefits is reduction
in storage space as rolls of paper convert to 60 times their volume.
The packaging
manager is delighted with the system and says, "Nissan operates
a policy of continuous improvement that has exploited the benefits
of Easypack. The machine is quick and easy to load and is so simple
that operator training is almost eliminated. We also like the
way in which the pliable cushions can be readily formed and shaped
to completely envelop the component. In place, they are sufficiently
resilient to offer a suitable degree of protection. Indeed, the
improved performance of the packaging materials was commented
on upon introduction to the dealer network".
Nissan,
as a company, are very aware of environmental considerations and
are happy using Easypack paper that is produced from recycled
material, which is recyclable and biodegradable.
